Collegiate competition kicks off

The U. S. Dept. of Energy has announced the official launch of the EcoCAR 2: Plugging into the Future competition and the the selection of the 16 participating teams. EcoCAR 2, a three-year collegiate engineering competition, is an educational partnership between General Motors and the Dept. of Energy to help prepare future engineers for opportunities in clean energy and advanced vehicle industries. EcoCAR 2 challenges teams to reduce the environmental impact of an existing vehicle without compromising performance, safety, and consumer acceptability.
