VFD delivers 99% efficiency, extended reliability

WEG Electric Corp. announces the release of the 8,000 hp MVW-01 medium voltage variable frequency drive (VFD). With the first unit shipping in April, the new VFD is the largest ever manufactured by the company. This expansion in capability doubles the hp available from the MVW01 drive. The MVW-01 features 99% efficiency and a 22-year mean time between failure (MTBF).

The MVW-01 is suited for high-demand applications, such as mining, cement, shipping, iron metallurgy, and petrochemical. Technologically advanced components, such as HV-IGBTs, are incorporated into the product to offer maximum reliability. Specifications include:

Voltage: 4,160 V
Current: 1,086 A ND, 950 A HD
Frequency: 0- to 100 Hz
